Gujarat’s COVID-19 count rose by 1,033 new cases to 79,816 on Monday, the state health department said.
The cumulative death toll increased by 15 to 2,802, it said.
Of the 15 fatalities, three deaths occurred each in Ahmedabad and Surat, while two patients died each in Morbi, Rajkot, Vadodara, and Bhavnagar. One person died in Gir Somnath, the health department said.
With 1,083 patients being discharged in the day, the number of recoveries climbed to 62,579 in the state, the department said.
At 243, Surat reported the highest number of cases in the state, followed by Ahmedabad which reported 158 cases, and Vadodara 109 cases.
Elsewhere in the state, Rajkot added 92 new cases, Jamnagar 44, Gandhinagar32, Panchmahal, and Bhavnagar 29 each, Amreli 28, Kutch 24, Morbi 22, Patan and Junagadh 21 each, Gir Somnath 19, Mehsana 17, Bharuch 16, etc.
Both Ahmedabad and Surat reported more number of recoveries than new cases in the day.
In Surat, 298 patients were discharged, the highest in the state, while 182 patients recovered in Ahmedabad.
Out of 14,435 active cases in Gujarat, 69 patients are on ventilators, the department said.
The case recovery rate of the state now stands at 78.40 percent, it said.
A total of 45,540 tests were conducted for COVID-19 across the state in the last 24 hours, which comes at the rate of 700.61 tests per day per million, it said.
Gujarat tested 13,58,364 samples so far.

A’bad records 158 new cases; 182 discharged
Ahmedabad reported 158 new coronavirus cases on Monday, raising its tally to 29,162, while three more patients succumbed to the infection, the Gujarat health department said.
With three fatalities, the death toll of the district rose to 1,662, it said.
With 182 patients getting discharged on Monday, the number of recovered cases rose to 24,064, it said.
Ahmedabad city reported 145 new cases and the rural parts of the district 13.
All three fatalities were reported from the city.
Also, out of the 182 patients getting discharged, as many as 165 were from the city, the department said in its release.
Since July 27, Ahmedabad city had reported less than 150 cases daily.
Over the last week, the number of fatalities has not exceeded four, as per the data provided by the civic body.
Also, since August 10, Ahmedabad has continued to report more daily recoveries than new cases, the figures show.
The rural parts of Ahmedabad have so far reported 1,531 cases. Recovery rate in this part of the district rose to 90 percent with 1,382 patients getting discharged so far.
Surat records 243 new cases; 298 recover
Surat reported 243 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, taking the tally to 17,733, the Gujarat health department said.
The number of fatalities rose to 740 with the death of three more COVID-19 patients, it said.
At the same time, 298 patients recovered, raising the number of recovered cases to 13,948, the department said in its release.
Surat city reported 168 new cases and the rural parts of the district 75.
All 298 recoveries and three deaths were reported from Surat city, it said.
Out of the total 740 deaths reported so far, 576 occurred in the city, and 164 in the rural parts, district health officials said.
A total of 2,995 patients are under treatment in Surat, they said.
Surat civic authorities said a total of 7.76 lakh patients have been surveyed so far. As many as 25,170 people have been quarantined, they said.
