Gujarat’s COVID-19 tally rose to 88,942 on Tuesday with the addition of 1,096 new cases, while 20 more patients succumbed to the infection, the state health department said.

With the death of 20 COVID-19 patients, the toll rose to 2,930, it said.
So far, a total of 71,261 patients have recovered from the infection in Gujarat with 1,011 of them getting discharged on Tuesday, the department said in a release.
With this, the state has achieved a recovery rate of 80.12 percent, it said.
Surat reported the highest number of 250 new cases followed by Ahmedabad where 157 persons tested positive.

Among other districts, Vadodara reported 122 new cases, Rajkot 95, Jamnagar 80, Bhavnagar 36, Gandhinagar 30, Junagadh 28, Panchmahal 29, Bharuch 26, Kutch 22, Gir Somnath 19, Dahod and Mehsana 17 each, Morbi and Patan 15 each, among others, the release said.
Out of the 20 statewide deaths, Surat reported the highest at seven, followed by Ahmedabad at four, Amreli and Junagadh two each, and Gir Somnath, Tapi, Bhavnagar, Rajkot and Vadodara at one each.
The number of active cases in the state stood at 14,751 with 79 patients in critical condition and 14,672 in a stable situation, the department said.
A total of 72,577 tests were conducted in the state in the last 24 hours, at the rate of 1,116.56 tests per day per million population, it said.
A total of 18,91,775 samples have been tested so far in the state, it said.
Gujarat COVID-19 figures are as follows: Positive cases 88,942, new cases 1,096, deaths 2,930, discharged 71,261, active cases 14,751 and people tested so far 18,91,775.
A’bad reports 157 new cases; 173 discharged
The number of COVID-19 cases in Ahmedabad district rose by 157 to 30,519 on Tuesday, Gujarat health department said.
With four more deaths, the total toll went up to 1,692, it said.
A total of 173 patients were discharged in the day, taking the number of recoveries to 25,441, the department said in a release.
Of the 157 new cases, 145 patients were detected in the city while 12 cases were reported from rural parts of the district.
All the four deaths were reported from the city, said the release.
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) said the city has achieved a recovery rate of 84.1 percent with 24,145 patients discharged so far.
Recovery rate in rural parts of the city stood at 92 percent with 1,536 patients discharged so far, including 25 on Tuesday.
Rural areas have reported 1,676 confirmed cases so far.
At 399, Dholka taluka has reported the highest number of cases so far, followed by Sanand with 387 cases, officials said.
250 more test +ve in Surat; 7 die, 146 recover
Surat reported 250 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, the highest for a district in Gujarat, taking its COVID-19 tally to 19,673, the state health department said.
With the death of seven more patients, also the highest in the state, the toll rose to 789, the department said in a release.
As many as 146 patients were discharged, raising the number of recovered cases in the south Gujarat district to 16,131, it said.
Surat city reported 169 new cases and the rural parts of the district 81.
Out of the seven fatalities, four were from the rural parts and three from the city, said the release.
With this, Surat city has so far reported 15,428 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 602 deaths.
Katargam locality has reported 2,982 cases so far, the highest in the city, with 22 of them on Tuesday, the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) said.
The civic body has so far surveyed 7.14 lakh people in areas from where COVID-19 cases were reported, it said.
At the same time, over 28,000 people have been quarantined after getting exposed to coronavirus, it said.
In the rural parts, 6,8911 persons are quarantined, health officials said.
