With Christmas, Kankaria Carnival and the New Year around, Ahmedabad City police have unveiled well drawn out traffic plans for Aapnu Amdawadis to reach the festivity venue in time and parking vehicles at non-towing zones and enjoy the celebrations with full merriment.
DO’S AND DON’TS AROUND KANKARIA
According to a notification issued by Commissioner of Police Ashish Bhatia, commuters travelling to Kankaria during the carnival period – from December 25, Wednesday to December 31, Tuesday – are advised not to park, stop and take a U-turn on the lake’s arterial roads.
The route from Kankaria Chowk three roads to Railway Yard to Khokhra Bridge to Dedki Garden to Siddhi Vinayak Hospital crossroads to Macchi peer crossroads to Pushpakunj circle to Apsara Cinema cross-road will be a no stopping road for all vehicles, except the two-wheelers, while the parking will be allowed only at the designated parking spots along the route. No vehicle will be allowed to take a U-turn on the circular route around Kankaria, the notification stated.
RESTRICTIONS ON CG ROAD ON NEW YEAR EVE
The CG road will be a no vehicle zone from December 31, Tuesday, 6 pm to January 1, Wednesday 3 am. Furthermore, both sides of the CG road will be a no parking zone during the period for the New Year celebration.
However, the commuters who want to cross the CG road will not face any problem and can cross the road through Swastik cross-road, Bodyline cross-road and Girish Cold Drink cross-road.
CURBS ON HEAVY, MEDIUM AND PASSENGER VEHICLES ON S-G ROAD
Heavy, medium and passenger vehicles will not be able to ply on Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway. Also, the stretch of SG Highway, from Pakwan cross-road to Sarkhej cross-road, will be a no-parking zone from December 31, Tuesday 7 pm to to January 1, Wednesday 3 am.
BAN ON PVT LUXURY BUSES TO PARK IN NEHRUNAGAR CIRCLE
The stretch from Nehrunagar circle to Iskcon cross-road will be a no-parking zone for private luxury buses during the period.
