The Salem Division of the Southern Railway has bagged two National Energy Conservation (NEC) awards for the year 2019 under the school category.
The awards were given away by the Union Minister of State for Power, New and Renewable Energy R.K. Singh, in New Delhi on December 14, says a press release.
The release said that Energy Conservation week was from December 9 to 15 and the National Energy conservation day was observed on December 14 across all the facilities of Salem Division. During the week, various activities were carried out to convey the message of energy conservation to staff of all departments and rail users.
Energy efficient light fittings and other products were displayed at Divisional office and a Seminar on “Energy Conservation” was conducted on December 17 in the presence of U. Subba Rao, Divisional Railway Manager and A. .Annadurai, Additional Divisional Railway Manager.
