Aiming to raise funds for The Queen Mary’s Technical Institute (QMTI) — a one-of-a-kind institution that imparts vocational training to differently-abled soldiers run by a registered  Charitable Educational Trust — which is entering 103 years of existence in May 2020, a group of well wishers have undertaken  ‘Run for Disbaled Soldiers’ from Mumbai to New Delhi.

On their way to New Delhi the runners were received at Godhra in Gujarat on Wednesday by the defence service officials and the NCC with enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. After taking rest and interacting with the hosts, the team continued their run with the mission of raising adequate funds to run this special institute, a release said.

Funds raised from this run will be donated to QMIT to impart vocational training to the war and peace-keeping casualties of the Indian Armed forces, to enable them to earn an independent and respectful living.

The Missionaries

Kumar Ajwani, Ultra Marathoner and a prominent name in the running fraternity has taken up the cause for “Run for Disabled Soldiers. This cause is not only a run but a sincere effort to raise funds and give wings to the soldiers with disability.
With the motto of “Although Hurt, I Grow” the run  commenced on Navy Day – December 15, 2019 -from Goregaon Sports Club, Mumbai at 6am and will conclude on the Army Day –January 12, 2020 at India Gate, Delhi, covering a total distance of 1484Km.
The funding of this run will be borne by Kumar  himself and will be supported by Goregaon Sports Club, Team Runtastic- Dilse, Runbuddies,

ABOUT THE INSTITUTE

Queen Mary’s Technical Institute (QMTI) runs courses like Diploma in Industrial Administration and Services Management, Computer Operator and Programming Assistant, Certified Tech Associate, C-DAC Certificate Course in PC Hardware and Maintenance, and various engineering tradesmanship courses for electricians, fitters and diesel mechanics. Additionally, the institute holds courses on Information Technology literacy, English language and soft skills. The QMTI also offers coaching for competitive exams, desktop publishing, Autocad, mobile and laptop repair and tally.

The admission is open to the disabled servicemen of the Army, the Navy and the Air Force. Personnel of the paramilitary forces, ITBP, CRPF, including disabled civilians.
