Gujarat’s COVID-19 caseload mounted to 1,36,004 on Tuesday with addition of 1,381 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, the state health department said.

With 11 more people succumbing to the infection, including four in Surat, the cumulative toll in the state went up to 3,442, it said.
While three persons died in Ahmedabad, two fatalities were reported from Vadodara. One patient died each in Gandhinagar and Rajkot, it said.
1,383 people were discharged after treatment in the last 24 hours, taking the total count of recoveries to 1,15,859, the department said in a release.
Gujarat”s case recovery rate now stands at 85.19 percent with 16,703 active cases.
Surat reported 311 new cases, followed by Ahmedabad with 195 infections.
Other districts that have reported a significant number of cases are Rajkot (148), Vadodara (129), and Jamnagar (91).
Gandhinagar and Bhavnagar each added 40 new cases while 39 infections each were reported from Banaskantha and Mehsana, the department said.
At 62,300, the state conducted the highest number of tests in a day, at an average of 959.05 tests per day per million.
A total of 43.56 lakh samples have been tested in the state so far.

Ahmedabad reports 195 new COVID-19 cases, 236 recoveries
As many as 195 new coronavirus cases emerged in Ahmedabad district of Gujarat in the last 24 hours, taking its count to 36,650 on Tuesday, the state government said.
With the death of three more patients during the same period, the toll in the district reached 1,825, nearly half of the total 3,431 COVID-19 deaths registered in Gujarat so far, it said.
Also, 236 patients undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the district recovered and discharged in the last 24 hours, said a state government release.
With this, the tally of recoveries in the district went up to 30,572, it added.
Out of the 195 persons who were found positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, 176 were from Ahmedabad city and 19 were from the rural parts of the district.
As cases are on the rise in Ahmedabad city, the civic body has adopted an intensive testing strategy to identify positive patients.
On Tuesday, a health team of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation tested 1,287 incoming passengers at Kalupur railway station and found that 17 of them had contracted the viral disease, said a release by the AMC.
311 new coronavirus cases in Surat, four deaths
311 new coronavirus cases were detected in Surat in the last 24 hours, taking the tally in the district to 27,894, the Gujarat health department said on Tuesday evening.
The district once again recorded the highest one-day spike in cases in the state.
Four persons succumbed to the infection in the district during the same period.
To curb the infection spread in the city, the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has started conducting rapid antigen tests in diamond units and textile markets.
On Tuesday, SMC conducted 569 rapid tests at various textile markets and found 22 cases of infection, it said.
Similarly, 28 persons were found positive during the drive in various diamond units.
Surat’s tally of 27,894 cases is second biggest after Ahmedabad, where 36,650 infections have been recorded so far.
Of 311 new cases, 179 cases were from Surat city and 132 from rural parts of the district, the release said.
While one person from the city died in the last 24 hours, three deaths were reported from rural parts, taking the death toll to 934 in the district.
A total of 275 persons, highest in Gujarat, were given a discharge in the last 24 hours, said the release.
