With the addition of 1,310 coronavirus positive cases, Gujarat’s overall tally went up to 1,40,055 on Friday, the health department said.
Fifteen patients died due to the infection in the last 24 hours, which took the death toll in the state to 3,478, it said in a statement.

A total of 1,250 people recovered from the infection and got discharge during this period. With this, the recovery count in the state reached 1,19,815.
Gujarat’s recovery rate now stands at 85.55 percent, the department said.
So far, over 45.31 lakh tests have been conducted in the state, which currently has 16,762 active cases.
Out of these active cases, 84 patients are on ventilator support, while 16,678 are stable.
With over 56,700 tests conducted in 24 hours, the highest single-day number so far, the per million average has gone up to 872.80 tests per day.
Surat still remains the worst-affected district with 278 new cases, followed by Ahmedabad with 198 new cases.
Other districts where a significant number of cases have emerged include Rajkot (151), Vadodara (129), Jamnagar (86). There were 45 cases in Gandhinagar and 36 in Mehsana.
Of the total 15 persons who had died due to the viral infection in the last 24 hours, three each died in Ahmedabad and Rajkot, two each in Vadodara and Surat, and one each in Banaskantha, Bhavnagar, Gandhinagar, Jamnagar, and Surendranagar.

198 new coronavirus cases in Ahmedabad district
198 persons tested positive for coronavirus in Ahmedabad district in the last 24 hours, said the state health department in a release on Friday evening.
It took the number of cases in the district to 37,238.
With the death of three COVID-19 patients during this period, the death toll in the district reached 1,834, over half of the total 3,478 deaths recorded in Gujarat till now.
258 patients recovered and were given discharge in the last 24 hours, taking the tally of recovered coronavirus patients in the district to 31,353.
Those discharged in the last 24 hours included 240 patients from the city and 18 from rural areas.
Of the 198 new infection cases, 173 were from Ahmedabad city while 25 cases were from other parts of the district.
278 cases, 2 deaths in Surat; 295 discharged
The number of coronavirus positive cases in Surat in Gujarat increased by 278 in the last 24 hours to reach 28,759, while two deaths took the toll to 944, an official said on Friday.
The addition of 278 cases, comprising 177 within city limits and 101 from rural areas, was the highest in the state, he added.
The official pointed out that 295 people were also discharged from hospitals during this period, which too is the highest for the state.
Surat has the second-highest overall count after Ahmedabad which has 37,238 cases.
