Gujarat recorded 1,243 new coronavirus positive cases in the last 24 hours, which took its case tally to 1,49,194, the state health department said on Friday.

However, the state”s recovery rate improved to 86.76 percent after 1,518 COVID-19 patients recovered in the last 24 hours.
As many as 1,29,441 patients have recovered across the state so far, it said in a release.
There are 16,203 active cases in the state at present.

Nine patients died across the state during this period, taking the death toll to 3,550, the department added.
While three each died in Ahmedabad and Surat districts, one each succumbed to the infection in Rajkot, Banaskantha, and Surendranagar.
Surat, Ahmedabad, and Rajkot were the worst-affected districts with 264, 180, and 132 new cases, respectively.
While 122 new cases emerged in Vadodara, 95 persons were found positive in Jamnagar and 39 in Banaskantha in the last 24 hours, the release said.
Of the 1,518 persons recovered during the day, 311 patients, the highest in the state for the day, recovered in Surat alone, followed by 216 in Ahmedabad.
The government said it has conducted over 49.10 lakh tests so far.
Of the active patients, 83 are on ventilator support, while 16,120 are stable, it said.
With 51,662 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, the per million average now stands at 794.80 tests per day, the department said.

Ahmedabad reports 180 new cases, 216 recover
Ahmedabad district in Gujarat reported 180 new coronavirus positive cases, which pushed its tally to 38,560, the state health department said on Friday.

While 164 of these cases were from Ahmedabad city, 16 belonged to the rural parts of the district, it said.
A total of 216 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the recovery count to 33,137.
Three patients from the city succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll in the district to 1,857, the release said.
Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation on Friday declared 12 residential societies and apartment blocks as micro-containment zones after new cases emerged in those areas.

264 new cases in Surat, 311 recover
264 persons in Surat district tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours, which pushed the caseload in the district to 30,690, the Gujarat health department said on Friday evening.
Two patients from the city and one from rural areas succumbed to the infection, taking the death toll in the district to 968, it said in a statement.
311 persons recovered and were given a discharge in the same period.
Surat continued to record the highest spike in cases in Gujarat on Friday.
Of 264 new cases, 173 were from the city and 91 from the rural parts of the district.
In the city, the highest 31 cases were found in Athwa zone, followed by 26 in Varachha-B, 24 in Katargam, and 22 in the Udhna zone.
