As many as 1,185 persons tested positive for coronavirus in Gujarat in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s case count to 1,56,283, the health department said on Thursday evening.

Eleven patients succumbed to COVID-19 during this period, it said in a release.

The death toll due to coronavirus in Gujarat thus stands at 3,609.
On the other hand, 1,329 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours in the state, it said. With this, Gujarat’s tally of recovered patients reached 1,37,870.
Four COVID-19 patients died in Ahmedabad, two in Surat, and one each in Gandhinagar, Mahisagar, Patan, Tapi, and Vadodara.

While Surat district recorded 249 new cases during the day, 186 fresh cases emerged in Ahmedabad, followed by 119 in Vadodara, 109 in Rajkot, 84 in Jamnagar, and 43 in Gandhinagar.
The patient recovery rate in Gujarat has gone up to 88.22 percent, the state government said.
Over 52,000 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours,
A fresh case of coronavirus was detected while eight patients were given discharge during the day in the adjoining Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu.
So far the union territory has recorded 3,148 infections, including two deaths. 3,073 patients have recovered and 73 cases are still active, said a release by the UT administration.
Gujarat’s coronavirus figures are as follows: Positive cases 1,56,283, new cases 1,185, death toll 3,609, discharged 1,37,870, active cases 14,804 and people tested so far 52,16,885.

Ahmedabad adds 186 cases; 180 patients recover
Ahmedabad district reported 186 new coronavirus positive cases, which pushed its tally to 39,655, the state health department said on Thursday.
While 168 persons tested positive in Ahmedabad city, 18 cases emerged in rural areas in the last 24 hours, it said in a release.
Three patients from the city and one from the rural areas of the district died due to the infection during the same period, taking the death toll in the district to 1,879.
The department said that 180 patients recovered from the infection and given discharge during the day, taking the number of such patients to 34,312.
As part of the aggressive surveillance and testing strategy, a team has been deployed at Kalupur railway station by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) to conduct rapid antigen tests on incoming passengers.
Out of the 1,392 passengers tested during the day, six were found infected, a release by the civic body said on Thursday.

Surat records 249 new cases, 281 recoveries
As many 249 new coronavirus cases were reported from the Surat district in the last 24 hours, while a higher number of 281 patients were discharged on Thursday, said the state Health Department.
Surat’s COVID-19 tally rose to 32,206 with the addition of 249 fresh cases, the highest for a district in the state, said a release by the Health Department.
While 176 persons were found positive in Surat city, 73 cases were reported from rural areas of the south Gujarat district, said the release.
Two patients from the city died due to the infection during the day, taking the death toll in the district to 984, it said.
The release said 281 patients also recovered from the infection and discharged from hospitals.
