World Students’ Day was celebrated every year on October 15 to commemorate the birth day of former president APJ Abdul Kalam.
As a mark of respect to the former president’s love towards students, various educational institutions across the nation observe Kalam’s birthday in their own way. It was in the year 2010, the United Nations declared October 15 to be World Students’ Day.
Hosur Chapter of the Institution of Engineers India and Society for Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering Professionals (SAMP) organised the World Students Day.
Dr. G. Ranganath National Council Member, Institution of Engineers (India) Kolkata and Principal, Adhiyamaan College of Engineering paid floral tributes to the portrait of Dr Kalam.
Addressing the students on this occasion, Dr. Ranganath highlighted the Dr. Kalam’s love towards children, especially school and college students with his famous anecdote “Dream, Dream, Dream and Dreams transform into thoughts. And thoughts result in action.”
Dr. Ranganath also released the Annual report (2019-2020) of the IEI Hosur Local centre and was received by Dr. J. Arivudainambi, Immediate Past Chairman and Dr.V. Manivasagan Immediate Past Secretary of IEI Hosur Local Centre.
Arunraj, Council Member, World Valuers Association delivered the technical address on E Mobility development for Green India and Dr. V. Anand, Professor. Alagappa University, Karaikudi presented a lecture on Entrepreneurship virtually.
The World Standards Day 2020 was also celebrated with a theme on “Protecting the planet with standards” Around 200 Engineers and Students took part in the even via Google Meet.
Dr. T. Menakadevi, Chairperson of IEI Hosur Local Centre welcomed the gathering and P. Murugesapandian, Honourery Secretary, IEI Hosur Local Centre proposed vote of thanks, says a release from the institution.
