COVID-19: TN reports 2,348 new cases, 28 deaths

Tamil Nadu on Thursday reported 2,348 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 7,36,777 as the death toll touched 11,272 with 28 more fatalities. Of the new infections, Chennai and Coimbatore reported 621 and 238 respectively and the rest of the cases were from across the state, a health department bulletin said.

Tamil Nadu on Thursday reported 2,348 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 7,36,777 as the death toll touched 11,272 with 28 more fatalities.

Of the new infections, Chennai and Coimbatore reported 621 and 238 respectively and the rest of the cases were from across the state, a health department bulletin said.

The tally of 7,36,777 covers Chennai”s 2,03,085, and the death toll of 11,272 includes the state capital”s 3,693.

Those dead include two men aged 28 and 32 and cumulatively, 26 had co-morbidities and two no chronic illnesses.

With 2,413 patients getting discharged from various hospitals, 7,06,444 people have so far got cured and active cases dipped to 19,061.

As many as 80,192 samples were tested and in total 1,03,25,440 specimens have been examined in 203 COVID labs of the state.
