A fire broke out at a private hospital here on Wednesday afternoon but nobody was injured as patients were evacuated, officials said.
The blaze erupted on the ground floor of the four-storey building of Tristar Hospital in Nanpura around 2.30 pm, a fire department official said.
At least 16 patients were shifted to other hospitals as the smoke spread on the first floor, he said.
The fire seemed to have started in the hospital’s server room, said Anil Goklani, chairman of the standing committee of the Surat Municipal Corporation.
Nobody was injured in the incident, he added.
Additional chief fire officer Basant Pareek said efforts to bring the blaze under control were underway.
