Puducherry added 54 new COVID-19 cases while no fresh fatality was reported in the union territory in the last 24 hours, a top Health department official said on Friday.
The 54 new cases were identified at the end of the examination of 3,468 samples, Director of Health and Family Welfare S Mohan Kumar said in a release.
Cumulatively, there were 36,585 coronavirus cases after the transfer of two patients to Tamil Nadu, he said.
While 621 cases were active, the total number of patients treated and discharged stood at 35,355, the Health Department Director said, adding and the toll remained at 609 as no fresh death was reported in the last 24 hours ending 10 AM Friday.
Of the 54 fresh infections, 43 were from the Puducherry region, two from Karaikal and nine from Mahe while Yanam did not report any new cases, he said.
He said as many as 101 patients were discharged during the last 24 hours.
The fatality and recovery rates were 1.66 percent and 96.64 percent respectively.
Of the 3.73 lakh samples tested so far 3.32 lakh samples were found to be negative, Mohan Kumar said.
