Gujarat recorded 1,564 new coronavirus positive cases on Sunday, taking the overall tally in the state to 2,08,278, the health department said.

The fatality count increased to 3,969 with 16 more patients, including 11 in Ahmedabad, three in Surat, and one each in Bharuch and Kheda, succumbed to the infection, it said.
With 1,451 patients getting discharged from hospitals, the recovery count went up to 1,89,420, the department said in a release.
The state’s recovery rate now stands at 90.95 percent and the number of active cases is 14,889.
A total of 68,960 tests were conducted on Sunday.
With this, a total of 77,59,739 tests have been conducted in the state till now.
Gujarat is now left with 14,889 active cases, the department said.
At 345, Ahmedabad continues to report the highest number of daily cases in Gujarat. Surat reported 278 fresh infections, followed by 171 in Vadodara and 149 in Rajkot.
Among other districts, Gandhinagar recorded 58 new cases, Kheda 57, Mehsana 51, Surendranagar 40, Banaskantha 38, Jamnagar 35, Panchmahal 33, Patan 30, Bhavnagar and Junagadh 29 each, Anand 28, Ahmedabad and Dahod 26, Kutch 22, Bharuch 20, Amreli and Sabarkantha 18 each, Mahisagar and Morbi 16 each, Aravalli 11, etc, the department said.
Union Territory of Daman, Diu and Dadra, and Nagar Haveli has 3,306 active cases while 3,280 patients have been discharged so far, said officials.

Ahmedabad district adds 345 fresh COVID-19 cases
Ahmedabad district on Sunday reported 345 new coronavirus positive cases, the highest in Gujarat, taking its tally to 49,765, the state health department said.

With 11 patients succumbing to the infection, also highest in the state in the day, the toll mounted to 2,047, it said.
At 360, recoveries in Ahmedabad district exceeded new cases in the day, taking the count of the discharged patients to 44,495, the department said in a release.
Of the 345 new cases, Ahmedabad city reported 319 and rural areas 26.
The north-west zone in Ahmedabad has the highest 517 active cases.
With more number of beds being requisitioned from private hospitals in the city for the treatment of COVID-19 patients, the bed occupancy in such hospitals reduced to 88.6 percent, as per the latest update from the Ahmedabad Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association (AHNA).
Out of 3,206 beds available in 98 hospitals, 2,841 beds are occupied.
180 beds are available in isolation wards of these hospitals, 136 in HDUs, 38 in ICUs without ventilators, and 11 in ICUs with ventilators.
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has also roped in private facilities for COVID Care centres, said AHNA.
278 new cases reported in Surat, three die
The COVID-19 tally in Surat district of Gujarat rose to 42,200 as 278 new cases were detected on Sunday, the state health department said.
With three deaths in Surat city, the district’s fatality count further increased to 1,068, it said.
Surat city reported 223 new cases, while the rural parts reported 55 cases.
Out of the 221 recoveries on Sunday, Surat city reported 178 and the district”s rural parts 43.
The recovery rate of Surat city stood at 93.38 percent with a total of 29,833 patients getting discharged.
A total of 18,778 people were quarantined in the city, the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) said.
As many as 509 patients are currently hospitalised in various city hospitals, the civic body said, adding that 154 patients were admitted to two government hospitals.
Bed occupancy rates in the city”s civil hospital and SMC-run SMIMER hospital are 3.69 and 8.77 percent respectively. The two hospitals have a capacity of 2,225 and 821 beds for COVID-19 patients, respectively, the civic body said.
City’s Athwa locality has reported the highest number of 6,126 COVID-19 cases so far, with 42 new cases on Sunday, followed by Katargam with 5,311 cases, Rander with 4,776 cases, among others.
In rural Surat, Kamrej taluka reported 12 new cases, taking its tally to 2,284, the highest among nine talukas.
Choryasi reported 18 fresh cases, the highest on Sunday, due to which its overall count mounted to 2,219, the officials said.
