Gujarat on Monday reported 1,502 fresh coronavirus positive cases, taking the count of infections to 2,09,780, the health department said.

With 20 more people succumbing to the viral infection, including 13 in Ahmedabad, two in Surat, and one fatality each in Gandhinagar, Mehsana, Morbi, Rajkot, and Vadodara, the overall toll rose to 3,989, it said.
A total of 1,401 patients were discharged in the day, taking the count of recovered patients in the state to 1,90,820.
The COVID-19 recovery rate in Gujarat now stands at 90.96 percent, said the release.
A total of 69,875 samples were tested for coronavirus in the last 24 hours at the rate of 1,013.48 tests per day per million population, taking the total number of tests to 78,25,615.
At 312, Ahmedabad reported the highest number of new cases in the state in the day, followed by 266 in Surat, 187 in Vadodara, and 140 in Rajkot, it said.
Elsewhere, Mehsana reported 70 fresh cases, Gandhinagar 59, Jamnagar 35, Kutch 33, Panchmahal 31, Banaskantha 28, Patan 26, Morbi and Junagadh 25 each, Mahisagar 24, Surendranagar 23, Kheda and Sabarkantha 22 each, Amreli 21, Dahod 20, Bharuch 19, Anand and Narmada 16 each, Navsari 15, Bhavnagar 14, etc.
Union Territory of Daman, Diu, and Dadra, and Nagar Haveli has a total caseload of 3,306, while the count of recoveries stands at 3,286, officials said.

With 312 cases, Ahmedabad’s count crosses 50,000 mark
The COVID-19 count in Ahmedabad crossed the 50,000-mark on Monday after 312 cases were detected, while 13 deaths took the toll to 2,060, an official said.
The district’s caseload now stands at 50,077, while the discharge of 344 people took the count of such cases to 44,839, he added.
“The city accounted for 291 of the new cases and 321 of the people who were discharged, the rest taking place in the district’s rural part,” he said.
An Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation official said the city”s north-west zone has 495 active cases, followed by the west with 460, south-west with 439, adding that micro containment areas rose to 303 after eight places were added and four removed from the list.
The AMC said it would carry out a door-to-door survey to detect new cases.
Surat sees 266 cases, 2 deaths; 219 recover
Surat reported 266 COVID-19 cases on Monday, the second highest for any district in Gujarat after Ahmedabad, while two patients died and 219 people were discharged, an official said.
The district now has 42,466 cases, including 1,070 deaths, he added.
“Surat city accounted for 212 new cases and 181 recoveries, while the rural part accounted for 54 and 38 respectively. With 30,014 people discharged so far, the recovery rate in Surat city rose to 93.33 percent, Currently, 19,924 patients are quarantined in Surat city,” he said.
The Surat Municipal Corporation said the highest number of cases, at 38, was recorded in Athwa locality, which now has 6,164 cases, followed by 37 in Rander.
“The number of patients admitted in city hospitals stands at 505, of which 155 are admitted in two government hospitals. Of the 2,225 beds available in the city”s civil hospital, 89 are occupied, an occupancy rate of 4 percent,” he said.
In the civic-run SMIMER hospital, the occupancy rate was 8.04 percent as 66 out of 821 beds had patients.
