Youth can bring transformational changes in this pandemic. They need access to support and platforms to express their ideas and experiment with innovations, observed panellists during the second-day Gujarat Youth Conclave (GYC) organized on Sunday.

GYC is organized virtually by Gujarat Youth Forum, a collaborative youth platform and supported by Centre of Excellence, Dept of Communication & Journalism at Gujarat University &  Elixir Foundation in partnership with Yuwaah and UNICEF India.

During the special talk,  Dhuwarakha Sriram, Chief of ADAP & YuWaah India at  UNICEF India said, “The opportunity to develop skills in an entrepreneurial environment leads to increased confidence and resilience and increased feelings of agency amongst young people – they view themselves as more skilled, more employable and with more positive future opportunities.”

The conclave saw speakers, doers & influencers from across the country that deliberated on the role of youth in COVID 19.

On the promotion of innovation among youths, M Nagarajan, IAS, Director of Technical Education, Education Department, Government of Gujarat, said, “When we are talking about the Startup, Innovation as the growth engine of BHARAT, it is not possible without the Youth for whom it is aimed at.”

The Youth in Innovation and Tech deliberated on resiliency, determination, and power of imagination of youth. The speakers included Ronak Jogeshwar, Program Lead, Atal Tinkering Labs, Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, Anuj Duggal, Developer Relations, Google and  Jatin Chaudhary, Co-Founder and Dheeraj Bhojwani, CEO, Atal Incubation Centre, Gujarat University.

And the last panel was on Youth and Climate focussing on COVID19 opportune time to reset the world. The speakers included Peter Cook, British Deputy High Commissioner, Gujarat and Rajasthan, Jaideep Bansal, COO, Global Himalayan Expedition (GHE), Ridhima Pandey, a 13-yr Climate Activist and Heeta Lakhani Global Focal Point, YOUNGO and moderated by  Nishu Kaul, Director, Earth Day, South and South East Asia.

Gujarat Youth Conclave (GYC) is supported Netsavvies, Creative Yatra, Earth Day and British Deputy High Commission, Gujarat and Rajasthan, Pratham Youth Community, AIESEC-Ahmedabad, Trio Teachers and SwaSarjan Foundation and Simulations.
