Gujarat reported 804 new coronavirus infections on Tuesday, taking the caseload to 2,43,459, the state health department said.

With seven patients succumbing to the virus, the COVID-19 death toll in the state rose to 4,295, it said.
But the number of recoveries exceeded new cases with 999 patients being discharged during the day. It took the total number of recovered cases to 2,29,143.
Gujarat’s recovery rate thus further improved to 94.12 percent, said the department in its release.
As many as 53,389 new tests were conducted for the virus in a single day, increasing the total number of samples tested for COVID-19 in the state to 95,43,400.
Ahmedabad district recorded 170 new cases, the highest in the state, followed by Surat with 156, Vadodara 130, and Rajkot with 91 cases.
Among other districts, Dahod reported 28 new cases, Gandhinagar 24, Kutch 23, Mehsana 21, Bharuch and Panchmahal 18 each, Kheda 15, Junagadh 13, and Banaskantha and Sabarkantha 10 each.
Out of seven deaths, three were reported in Ahmedabad, two in Surat, and one each in Banaskantha and Botad districts, said the release.
There are now 10,021 active cases in Gujarat, out of which the condition of 63 patients is critical, it said.
The Union Territory of Daman, Diu and Dadra, and Nagar Haveli reported one recovery and no new cases on Tuesday.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in the UT is 3,346, and the number of recovered cases is 3,333. The UT has 11 active cases and has reported two deaths so far.

Ahmedabad reports 170 news cases, 173 recoveries; 3 die
The coronavirus tally in the Ahmedabad district rose to 57,310 with the addition of 170 new cases on Tuesday, the state health department said.
With three more fatalities, the number of patients who have succumbed to the virus increased to 2,243, it said.
As many as 173 patients were discharged from hospitals during the day, pushing the number of recovered cases to 52,134, the department said in a release.
Ahmedabad city reported163 new cases and 168 recoveries, while the rural parts of the district recorded seven fresh infections and five discharges, it said.
Western parts of the city have the highest number of active cases with the north-west zone accounting for 400 such cases followed by the west zone at 392 and the south-west zone at 375.
The central zone has 278 active cases, the lowest among the city”s seven zones.
As per the current availability of beds in city’s private hospitals requisitioned by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), only 16.7 percent of the beds, or 600 out of a total of 3,601, are occupied by COVID-19 patients as on date.
There are 190 beds available in ICUs with ventilators and 60 are occupied in these hospitals. In ICUs without ventilators, 413 beds are available and 112 occupied, said an association of private hospitals in the city.
In isolation wards, 1,275 beds are available and 203 occupied, said the association.
After a fresh revision, there are now 20 micro-containment areas in Ahmedabad city with two removed and three added to the list following reporting of new COVID-19 cases from there, the AMC said.
Surat registers 156 COVID-19 cases, 158 recoveries; 2 die
Surat district reported 156 new COVID-19 cases and two more deaths on Tuesday, the state health department said.
With the new cases, the coronavirus tally in the district rose to 48,951 and the death toll increased to 1,135, said the department in a release.
Also, 158 patients were discharged from hospitals following recovery, it said.
Surat city reported 120 new cases and 129 recoveries, while the rural parts recorded 36 new infections and 29 recoveries, the release said.
The COVID-19 recovery rate in Surat city rose to 95.55 per cent with a total of 35,048 patients getting discharged from hospitals so far, the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) said.
As many as 8,802 patients are quarantined in Surat city, the SMC said.
In the city, Athwa locality reported 30 new cases, taking its tally to 7,043.
Katargam has reported the second highest number of COVID-19 cases at 5,960, of which 15 were detected on Tuesday, the civic body said in a release.
As many as 212 COVID-19 patients are currently hospitalised in the city, 61 of them in two government hospitals, it added.
