Gujarat’s COVID-19 tally rose to 2,47,926 on Monday with the addition of 698 new cases, while nearly 900 patients recovered from the infection, the state health department said.

With three more deaths, the state-wide COVID-19 fatalities went up to 4,321, it said.
Also, 898 patients were discharged from hospitals during the day, taking the number of recovered cases to 2,34,558, said the department in a release.
With this, the COVID-19 recovery rate improved further to 94.61 percent, it said.
There are now 9,047 active cases in the state with 60 patients on ventilators.
As many as 47,995 COVID-19 tests were conducted on Monday, pushing the tally of samples tested so far to 98,58,659, the release said.
Ahmedabad reported 144 new cases, the highest for a district, while Vadodara overtook Surat on the second spot to record 130 infections. Surat reported124 cases and Rajkot 64, the release said.
Among other districts, Dahod reported 26 new cases, Gandhinagar 24, Kutch 23, Junagadh 17, Bhavnagar and Narmada 15 each, Kheda 13, Bharuch and Morbi 12 each, Anand and Banaskantha nine each.
Out of the three fresh fatalities, Ahmedabad reported two and Surat one, said the release.
In the Union Territory of Daman, Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli, no new COVID-19 case was reported on Monday, while one patient was discharged following recovery, health officials said.
With this, the number of COVID-19 infections in the UT remained unchanged at 3,351, while the count of recovered cases rose to 3,338.
There are currently 11 active cases in the UT which has reported two deaths so far, the officials said.

Ahmedabad tally rises by 144, toll by 2; 148 recover
Ahmedabad on Monday saw 144 COVID-19 cases, two deaths, and 148 recoveries, taking the tally to 58,239, the toll to 2,258, and the number of people discharged to 53,080, an official said.
Ahmedabad city reported 142 cases and an equal number of recoveries, while the rest came from rural areas of the district, he said.
“The city now has 2,408 active cases, led by the north-west with 411 active cases, followed by west zone with 390 and south-west zone with 356. The Central Zone has the lowest number of active cases at 261. Both deaths took place in the city, which now has a toll of 2,204,” he said.
The number of beds occupied in private hospitals designated by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation for COVID-19 treatment stood at 380, an occupancy rate of 10.8 percent.
There are 3,526 beds in 94 private hospitals, said the Ahmedabad Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association.
Surat sees 124 cases, 1 death, 132 recoveries
Surat reported 124 COVID-19 cases and one death on Monday, taking the district”s tally to 49,758 and toll to 1,139, an official said.
A total of 132 people were discharged, including 112 in city limits, which also accounted for 102 of the new cases, he added.
“So far, 35,756 people have been discharged in areas under Surat Municipal Corporation, a recovery rate of 95.75 percent. Now, 7,842 people are quarantined and 201 hospitalised, including 68 in civil and SMIMER, which have bed occupancy rates of 1.9 and 3 percent respectively,” a civic official said.
In the city, Athwa has 7,200 cases and Katargam has 6,044, he added.
“In rural Surat, the number of people quarantined is 1,053, while the number of active clusters is 417 where 307 patients are admitted. Kamrej has 2,571 cases, Choryasi 2,435, and Umarpada the lowest at 84,” the official said.
