Girnar Ropeway, developed by passenger ropeway pioneer Usha Breco, has been recognized as the ‘Best Unique Tourism Attraction of Gujarat’ at the Tourism Awards 2020 on Monday, a release said.
Chief Minister Vijay Rupani inaugurated the glittering awards ceremony at GIFT City on Monday.
The award as the ‘Best Unique Tourism Attraction of Gujarat, was bestowed upon Usha Breco for the Girnar Ropeway project at the hands of Tourism Minister Jawahar Chavda and Minister of State for Tourism Vasanbhai Ahir.
The award was accepted on behalf of Usha Breco by Deepak Kaplish, Regional Head-West, Usha Breco.
The Girnar ropeway, built by Usha Breco at Rs. 130 crore, is one of the most modern and sophisticated ropeways in the country. It is also the longest to a temple in the world. The ropeway is expected to play the role of a catalyst in the development of tourism and allied businesses in Girnar and Junagadh, and also boost the Holy Triangle of Girnar, Somnath, and Dwarka.
The Girnar ropeway has ferried close to 2 lakh passengers since it was opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 24.
