With the addition of 490 coronavirus positive cases on Wednesday, Gujarat’s infection count increased to 2,57,342, the state health department said.
As the virus claimed the lives of two patients during the day, the death toll went up to 4,371, it said.
A total of 707 patients were discharged on Wednesday, which pushed the state’s recovery count to 2,47,223, the department said in a release.
With this, the state”s recovery rate improved to 96.07 percent, it said.
There are 5,748 active cases in the state at present and 51 of these patients are on ventilator support.
Of the total, Ahmedabad reported the highest number of 105 new cases, followed by Rajkot 98, Vadodara 94, and Rajkot 65.
The infection count in Ahmedabad rose to 61,149, while the death toll went up to 2,284 with two more fatalities in Ahmedabad, the release said.
Surat”s total coronavirus positive case count increased to 51,425, it said.
Among other districts, Gandhinagar and Kutch reported 14 new cases, Junagadh 11, Jamnagar eight, Dahod and Gir Somnath seven each, Sabarkantha six, Bharuch and Kheda five each.
In the Union Territory of Daman, Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli, the COVID-19 case tally rose to 3,362 with two new cases. As no patient was discharged in the UT on Wednesday, the number of recovered cases remained at 3,352.
There are eight active cases in the UT, which has so far reported two deaths.
