As part of the National Integration Tour, 20 girl students and two woman teachers from remote schools of the Nagaland along with an officer from 40 Assam Rifles visited Chennai from January 4 to 7. The visit was conducted with an aim to enhance the knowledge and strengthen the idea of social integration among the children. During the visit, students ranging from 15 to 22 years of age got an opportunity to witness the geographical, cultural and urban landscape of Chennai.
The student group also visited Raj Bhavan on January 6, where they had an opportunity to interact with Governor of Tamilnadu Banwarilal Purohit.
While on tour, the girls stayed at the Officers Training Academy, Chennai. Students were elated to experience the training environment and infrastructure in the Academy and expressed their keen interest to join Armed Forces after interaction with Lieutenant General Sanjeev Kanal, AVSM, Commandant of the Academy. The students expressed that this was a lifetime opportunity for them and they would spread the good words about the new and rich experiences with their friends, relatives and school. They were very thankful to the Indian Army for providing them with this kind of exposure, a release from Defence PRO said.
