Gujarat unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday released its third list of 527 candidates for the upcoming state local body elections. With this list, AAP has released the names of over 1,700 candidates, which is a record of sorts in Gujarat, a release said.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Gujarat unit president Gopal Italia and State in-charge Gulabh Singh announced the third list of 527 candidates for the upcoming local body polls and said the party is projecting itself as an “alternative” to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Gujarat.
Commenting on the list, Gopal Italia said, “Being a party with principles, AAP has released the names even before the SEC announced the poll schedule so that the voters can have time to study the credentials of their representatives and take an informed decision. Besides, we have also started an email ID where anyone can submit a complaint against any of our candidates if they are found involved in any criminal activity.”
This is the first time the AAP will be contesting in the local body — taluka panchayat, zilla panchayat, nagar palika and mahanagar palika — elections in Gujarat .
