Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam on Wednesday said the state government has extended health insurance for its pensioners and family pensioners for four years up to 2022, enhancing the health cover to Rs 4 lakh.
Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam. – File photoAs many as 7.3 lakh pensioners or family pensioners joined the scheme, which extended Rs. 909.37 crore worth benefits since 2014.
“The limit has been enhanced to Rs 7.5 lakh for specified approved treatment such as chemotherapy, radiotheraphy, transplantation of liver, kidney, open heart surgeries and implants, besides accident and trauma cases,” the deputy CM said.
At least 988 hospitals across the country have been authorised to offer cashless treatment.
