Continuing a downward trend, Gujarat recorded 335 new coronavirus infections and only one death in the last 24 hours, said an official release on Friday evening.
The state’s COVID-19 caseload now stands at 2,60,901, said a release by the Health Department.
With one death reported during the day in Ahmedabad, the death toll due to coronavirus in Gujarat reached 4,385.
The tally of recovered patients rose to 2,52,927 on Friday with 463 COVID-19 patients being given discharge.
The state’s recovery rate has risen to 96.94 percent, said the release.
As many as 56,935 health workers were vaccinated on Friday as part of the ongoing vaccination drive against coronavirus. Till now, 2.12 lakh health workers have been covered under the drive in Gujarat.
Of 3,589 active cases in the state, 42 are on ventilators while 3,547 are stable.
Ahmedabad recorded 77 new COVID-19 cases, the highest in the state, during the day, taking the district”s tally to 61,925.
With one death reported in the city, the district”s death toll has gone up to 2,293. 112 patients from the district also recovered and were given a discharge in the last 24 hours.
Surat district reported 49 new cases, taking its tally to 52,101, said the release, adding that 62 persons from the district also recovered during the day.
Vadodara and Rajkot districts recorded 89 and 39 new cases, respectively.
Three new cases of COVID-19 emerged in the adjoining Union Territory of Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu in the last 24 hours.
Of the total 3,370 persons found positive for coronavirus in the territory till now, two have died, 3,360 have recovered and 8 cases are still active, said a release by the UT administration.
