Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning India Ltd has constructed a new primary school building dedicated to providing quality educational infrastructure and creating a conducive environment for improving learning outcomes and enhancing the literacy rate of Panthoda village in the Mehsana district of Gujarat. The fully equipped new school building was inaugurated by Gurmeet Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning India Ltd. in the presence of senior officials of the company and local village authorities.
Inaugurating the school building, Gurmeet Singh, Chairman, and Managing Director, Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning India Ltd. said, “As a socially responsible company, Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning India Ltd. CSR division is committed to providing state of the art infrastructure for education, health, and sanitisation in the rural hinterland of Kadi, Gujarat. The company places great importance on providing children from rural backgrounds the opportunity to receive quality education. We are confident that our new school building will contribute to bridging the literacy gaps in rural Gujarat while improving the quality of primary education that these children receive. We are here to assure all possible support to the school children to pursue their educational dream.”
Catalyst for rural education
Panthoda is a remote village located in Kadi Taluka of the Mahesana district. The literacy rate of Panthoda village is much lower than rest of Gujarat. The primary school that caters to about 500 students was in a dilapidated state. To improve the literacy rate of this remote village in Gujarat and reduce school dropouts, Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning India Ltd. has constructed this fully equipped primary school along with a mid-day meal shed as part of its CSR initiative.
The CSR division of Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning India is working indefatigably on impactful projects in rural Gujarat which include Primary Health Center at Karannagar, Sanitation Projects, Skill development projects, Education projects, including digitisation of education through projector systems embedded with the school syllabus. At the national level, the CSR initiative has been extended to sponsor Para Athletes for Paralympics and skilling of construction workers.
