A TN-based NGO has vowed to harness youth power in spreading awareness on organic farming, better water management so as to make the country self-reliant.
Speaking with the media here on Tuesday, Founder-Chairman of Ayutha Ezhthu Ezhuchi and Youth People’s Movement M Sivasuresh said, “The NGO will harness the youth power by bringing them under one banner in spreading organic farming, better water management awareness among the farmers to make the country self-reliant.”
Sivasuresh said that his movement has planned to expand across the state to create awareness on water management and organic farming.
The movement having over 2 lakh youths served the needy through its 16 branches during the last three years. It has branches in Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode, Dindigul, Tiruchirappalli, and Namakkal districts.
The goal of the youth movement is to make people self-reliant by encouraging farmers to go for organic farming and adopt better water management.
Besides these, the movement helped over 2K beneficiaries in getting medical treatment, renovate civic schools on a par with private schools.
“We are committed to implementing Inland Water Transport, including Underground Water Transport system in the country, as it is cost-effective and environment-friendly,’’ Sivasuresh said.
The project prepared by the movement was submitted to central and state governments, but none of them have shown interest in it, he alleged. However, some international agencies are ready to undertake the UG Water Transport project provided if the government gives its nod, he added.
The movement also screened a brief presentation on its water management system.
M Ramar, State Secretary, Ayutha Ezhthu Ezhuchi, and Youth People’s Movement was also present at the press conference.
