Gujarat on Wednesday reported 278 fresh coronavirus cases, taking the tally in the state to 2,66,034, the state health department said.
With a person succumbing to the infection in Ahmedabad, the death toll in the state went up to 4,403, it said.
A total of 273 people were discharged during the day, taking the number of recoveries in Gujarat to 2,59,928, the department said in a release.
Gujarat now has 1,703 active COVID-19 cases and the recovery rate is at 97.7 percent.
Ahmedabad district reported the highest number of new cases in the state in the day at 59, followed by 58 in Vadodara, 47 in Surat, and 42 in Rajkot, the department said.
Among other districts, Gandhinagar reported 10 new cases, Jamnagar nine, Mehsana six, while five cases each were reported from Anand, Gir Somnath, Kheda, and Sabarkantha.
Meanwhile, the overall number of inoculations against COVID-19 in Gujarat rose to 8,05,630 on Wednesday with 3,718 healthcare and frontline workers receiving vaccine jabs, the department said.
The number of active cases in the Union Territory of Daman, Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli rose to four with two new cases being reported in Daman on Wednesday, officials said.
Out of the 3,374 cases recorded in the UT till now, 3,368 patients have recovered while two others have died.
