Marking International Women’s Day, the city-based V-Help Foundation on Sunday honoured and felicitated 11 women achievers in recognition of their services in different fields and also five COVID-19 Warriors.
V-Help Foundation organised the third edition of the Urja Awards 2021 on the occasion of International Women Day 2021 to celebrate and honour the confidence, passion, fearlessness, and spirit of 11 leading women in nine categories. True to this year’s theme of ‘Choose to Challenge’, they have fulfilled their dreams in their respective fields.
Gujarati cine actor and chief guest Bhavini Jani said that women were masters in multitasking. Despite reaching the pinnacle of glory in their professional life, they have been doing the balancing act of mother, daughter, daughter-in-law, and wife with ease, she added.
Gujarat University Mass Communication Dept Head and well-known columnist Prof Sonal Pandya said that over a thousand journalists working in the media were her students and she was proud of them. She lamented that the ratio of boys and girls in Gujarat was 1000:890 as per the 2011 census. This issue must be addressed by society at the earliest. Further, women bore the brunt of child delivery as well as family planning. Men have equal role in this, she said.
Fani Trivedi, a solid waste management expert, and FICCI member exhorted women to become job providers by ‘choosing to challenge’ the obstacles in life.
Other guests were the former principal of DPS Nira Pandey and Dhariniben Shukla.
