She told reporters later that the vaccination festival which began on April 11 ended Sunday and there was overwhelming response from the people above 45 years for inoculation.

She said that there would be no side-effects following vaccination.

The Lt Governor said Covid care centres were being opened to help people in home quarantine.

Areas that reported large number of new cases of infection would become containment zones, she added.

A close watch would be kept on people in such zones and their requirements would be taken care of, she said.

Adequate beds were available in government hospitals and steps were taken to get the private hospitals ready to accommodate patients requiring admission for medical care, the Lt. Governor said.

Tamilisai Soundararajan said the Mahatma Gandhi Government Dental College, the Rajiv Gandhi Women and Child hospital and the ESI hospital were being used to admit patients with complaints of infection.

She appealed to the people to make use of the facilities as the government was running testing centres and also centres for vaccination of people above 45 years.
