Tamil Nadu on Monday logged 15,684 new Coronavirus cases and 94 fatalities, taking the infection count and toll to 10,97,672 and 13,651, the state health department said.
Recoveries stood at 13,625, which is about 2,560 more than those discharged on Sunday (11,065).

A senior health official attributed this phenomenon due to Sunday’s total lockdown which kept people indoors. According to the state health bulletin, total recoveries are at 9,76,876 while active cases including isolation as of Monday 1,07,145.
Chennai reported 4,250 new cases and 35 fatalities. The active caseload remains at 3,14,074 while 4,602 is the toll.
Recoveries today stood at 4,533, taking the tally to 2,78,330, while there are 31,142 active cases.
Meanwhile, the state government has ordered closure of meat shops and fish markets in Tamil Nadu on Saturdays to avoid crowding of people.
The government warned of stringent action if those shops opened.
For its part, the Greater Chennai Corporation launched mega COVID-19 vaccination centres at 15 locations in the city today to maximise the vaccine coverage.
Of the total 94 deaths today,80 were due to comorbidities.
Next to Chennai, Chengalpattu reported 1,142 fresh cases, followed by Coimbatore 1,056, Thiruvallur 838, Madurai 524, Erode 515, Thoothukudi 503, and Krishnagiri 162.
