Gujarat on Saturday reported 13,847 new coronavirus cases and 172 casualties which raised its tally of infections to 5,78,624, and death toll to 7,355, a health department official said.

With 10,582 patients getting discharged from hospitals during the day, the count of recoveries reached 4,29,130.
The state’s recovery rate stands at 73.78 percent.
There are 1,42,139 active cases, of which 637 patients are on ventilator.
Ahmedabad district reported 5,060 new COVID-19 cases, followed by Surat with 2,188 cases, Vadodara with 783, Jamnagar with 743, Rajkot with 700, Bharuch with 573 and Gandhinagar with 320 cases, among others.
Surat accounted for the highest 24 deaths during the day, followed by Ahmedabad at 23 and Rajkot at 14.
At least 55,235 out of the day’s target of 60,000 beneficiaries in the age group of 18-45 received the vaccine jab on the first day of the third phase of COVID-19 vaccination drive, said an official release.
A total of 2,17,093 people were inoculated during the day, taking the total number of doses administered so far in the state to 1,23,04,359, of which 24,92,496 beneficiaries received the second dose.
Meanwhile, in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, the total of COVID-19 cases rose to 7,859 after 212 persons tested positive for the infection, an official said.
The count of recoveries stands at 5,826, while the number of active cases has reached 2,029 in the Union Territory, which has so far recorded four casualties.
