AHMEDABAD, MAY 17
Gujarat on Monday reported 7,135 coronavirus positive cases, taking its infection count to 7,59,754, while 81 deaths increased the toll in the state to 9,202, an official said.
He said 12,342 people were discharged during the day, which took the recovery count to 6,50,932, or 85.68 per cent of the caseload, leaving the state with 99,620 active cases, 762 of which are on ventilator support.
“Ahmedabad led with 2,377 new cases, followed by Vadodara with 701, Surat 518, Junagadh 382, Jamnagar 283 and Bhavnagar 190, among others. Ahmedabad recorded 12 deaths during the day, the highest among all districts, followed by Surat with ten, Vadodara eight, Junagadh six and Jamnagar five,” the official informed.
The COVID-19 vaccination drive in the state was suspended for Monday and Tuesday in wake of cyclone Tauktae expected to make landfall in the state later in the day.
So far, 1,47,81,755 doses have been administered in the state.
