It is going to be after a very long time that a multi-starrer Gujarati movie is going to entertain Gujarati audiences virtually. Malhar Thakkar and Katha Patel-starrer Gujarati movie Swagatam, a thriller rom-com, made a record of sorts by getting the credit of the digital first Gujarati movie to be released on the OTT platform ShemarooMe on Friday at 2 pm.
This is the second exclusive release in line after releasing Vaat Vaat Ma (original web series) recently; the series is already streaming on ShemarooMe, entertaining Gujarati audiences across all age groups and is receiving phenomenal response and love from them.
A similar response is expected from Swagatam as well. The platform recently announced a series of new slate of content with a line-up of blockbuster movies, nataks, original web series and more. ShemarooMe is keeping up to the promise of providing one new weekly content to entertain Gujarati audiences.
Speaking to navjeevanexpress.com, director Neeraj Joshi, said, “This twisted tale of a family that is not only dark but considers this madness normal will keep the audiences entertained throughout. The star-studded movie features Malhar Thakar, Katha Patel along with the talented lot like Chetan Dhanani, Ojas Rawal, Vandana Pathak, Jay Upadhyay, and more. This dysfunctional family drama will give you teeth biting moments along with a love track playing in the background. The family entertainer will surely make your time worth-while making you fall in love with the madness.”
“The film dialogues are integrated with the public service announcement highlighting the need for maintaining social distance, wearing a mask & taking up the vaccination process in such a way it looks fun along with the stay home and stay safe message. It was shot in 20 days in a single location by following all SOPS of pandemic. Though it is being released on OTT platform directly, it will also be released in theatres after normalisation,” Joshi added.
Commenting on the launch of his movie, the lead actor Malhar Thakar said, “Amidst the uncertainty and tough times, it becomes all the more important for artists to create a safe and entertaining environment. Adding to this, Katha Patel the lead actress who is making her film debut, said, “These are grim times and I definitely turn to my OTT screen for some friendly distraction.
