Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Friday said that priority accorded to education, health, housing and infrastructure facilities for the last man in the last mile, poor and have-nots under Antyodaya Yojna are at the centre of the foundation of development laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Launching the state-level function under the theme ‘Garibo-ni Beli Sarkar’ for poor’s welfare schemes to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 71st birthday from here, Patel said that Modi’s definitive ‘Garibo-ni Beli Sarkar’ has brought an end to the previous unplanned patchwork approach to development just to earn applause.

The event here marked the launch of 400 such functions being held at districts, talukas, villages and cities across the state for 5-lakh free cooking gas connections under Ujjwala 2.0, assistance to children rendered orphan under Bal Seva Yojna, Pandit Deendayal Aushadhalays and widespread cleanliness programme in slums. The Garibo-ni-Beli Sarkar as a saviour of the poor also includes toilet in every home.
He said free cooking gas connections were provided to 29-lakh families under Ujjwala 1.0 in the state, free food worth Rs. 3,338-crore was distributed to 3.50-crore people under Antyodaya Yojna in the state under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership at the Centre as part of the government’s commitment to ensure not a single person should go to bed hungry.
The Chief Minister said that it was only after Modi became the Prime Minister after 70 years of Independence that attention was paid to cleanliness in the villages, besides free ration to 3.50-crore people under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojna.
He said it was first time after 70 years of Independence that Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural) was launched by any Prime Minister, constructing 37 lakh toilets in Gujarat, the state becoming the first Open Defecation Free (ODF) state in 2017.
Listing the expansion of healthcare facilities in the state, he said 250 Pandit Deendayal Aushadhalays are being started today where poor lived for free distribution of medicine and consultancy to poor and workers.
The Chief Minister said that 176 destitute children who lost both the parents during Coronavirus and another 8,500 children who lost either of the parents, totalling 8,676, are being provided monthly financial assistance, the sum directly deposited in their bank account. He said that sarpanchs of 7,100 villages being felicitated on 71st birthday of Prime Minister for achieving 100 per cent vaccination.
As a token, the Chief Minister distributed five kits to beneficiaries of Ujjwala Yojna, felicitated sarpanchs of five villages for achieving 100 percent vaccination and paid online five destitute children under Bal Seva Yojna.

Rakesh, Additional Chief Secretary for Social Justice & Empowerment Sunayna Tomar, Additional Chief Secretary for Health Manoj Agrawal, Rural Development Commissioner Sonal Mishra, Ahmedabad Municipal Commissioner Mukesh Kumar, District Collector Sandeep Sangle and others.
CM Patel shares birthday cake with 15 children
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Friday visited Sathya Sai Heart Hospital at Kasindra in Ahmedabad district to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 71st birthday. The people’s chief minister lifted one of the child patients and cut a birthday cake to mark the occasion. He shared the same with 15 other pediatric patients going home after got cured.
Over 18 lakh people inoculated against COVID-19 in govt mega drive
More than 18 lakh eligible citizens were vaccinated against COVID-19 till 7 pm during the mega vaccination drive organised by the Gujarat government on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 71st birthday on Friday, an official said.
The number is likely to increase further, as the inoculation drive will end at 10 pm, the official said.
As per an official release, the state health department is continuously monitoring the drive and trying to persuade people to take the jab against the disease.
Earlier on Thursday, officials had said that the state government had set a target of covering 35 lakh persons under this drive.
“The aim is to cover more than 35 lakh beneficiaries and ensure 100 percent vaccination in the state’s 7,500 villages,” additional chief secretary (Health) Manoj Aggarwal had told reporters in Gandhinagar on Thursday.
CM hands over various plan approval letters and orders in Bapunagar
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel handed over various scheme approval letters and orders at an event organized in Bapunagar, Ahmedabad. These schemes will benefit several beneficiaries of Bapunagar area.
Thousands of beneficiaries have been handed over with approval letters or orders under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Vima Yojana in a single day.
State BJP President CR Patil, State General SecretaryPradeep Bhai Vaghela, Vice President Gordhanbhai Zadafia, Ahmedabad City Mayor Kiritbhai Parmar, Standing Committee Chairman and Corporator’s were present in this programme.
