‘Only a life-long student can be a good teacher’ holds good in the case of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. Day after interacting with the GAD, Patel convened a high-level meeting of Panchayat and Rural Development Departments here on Thursday to review the works of different departments directly dealing with people’s welfare.

Rural Development Minister Arjunsinh Chauhan and Minister of State for Panchayat Brijesh Merja also attended the meeting.
Additional Chief Secretary for Panchayat and Rural Development Vipul Mittra held a presentation on the three-tier panchayati raj system at district, taluka and village level and the facilities available at panchayat bhavans.
The Chief Minister said that Rs 8,795.57 crore have been allocated in the State Budget for these two departments, including Rs 5,285.96 crore for Panchayat and Rs 3,509.61 crore for Rural Development.
He apprised himself with the details of Samras Gram, Teerth Gram and other schemes.

The Chief Minister said that donors contributing to the Vatan Prem Yojna for people’s development works at local level can deposit online the amount directly into the bank account of the agency of their choice and work order for the sake of transparency.
He also reviewed the progress of land availability, construction and allotment of housing by Gujarat Rural Housing Board at the village level.
Similarly, Rural Development Secretary Sonal Mishra held the presentation on her department’s achievements, in areas like ODF Plus in Swachh Bharat Mission Phase-2, Grey Water Management, Solid Waste Management, Plastic Waste Management, Gobar Dhan Project, Mahila Utkarsh Yojna and activities of 2.65 lakh Self-Help Groups in the state for women’s empowerment.
She informed the Chief Minister that 3.68 crore man-days employment was generated during the last six months even during Coronavirus pandemic under MNREGA alongside creating assets also.
Those who joined the review meeting included Chief Minister’s Chief Principal Secretary K Kailashnathan, Rural Development Commissioner, and senior officers of Panchayat and Rural Development Departments, Rural Housing Board and Gujarat Livelihood Promotion Company.
