Zee5 is set to create a new benchmark with an unconventional portrayal of women in Zindagi’s next original ‘Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam’ which is set to premiere on 10th December. Critically acclaimed British Indian director Meenu Gaur, best known for her film Zinda Bhaag, joins the Zindagi family with the new series. Talking about the desi noir series showcasing fearless and bold characters, Meenu describes what a ‘Qatil Haseena’ means to her.

It is an exciting time for female directors who can tell stories with strong female protagonists in male-dominated genres: Meenu Gaur.-NE photo

“A Qatil Haseena for me is a feminine threat but a threat isn’t always a bad thing. What if it’s a threat to patriarchy? Or a threat to stereotypes? Or a moral universe that constantly attacks women for making their rightful claim? This threat is needed. A woman knowing what she wants and getting it, that’s all it takes for a woman to be called a vamp.”

“A Qatil Haseena is also beautiful, playful, with a lot of swag, she claims what is hers and is unapologetic. She can come in any age, shape, or colour.  Strong women will identify with our Qatil Haseenas because if you’re strong and not shy of showing your strength, then you become a threat even if you do nothing much.” she added.

Speaking about her expectations for the show, Meenu said, “I hope people have fun watching this show and the mystery, mood, mahoul (vibe) draws them in. It is an exciting time for female directors who can tell stories with strong female protagonists in male-dominated genres. I hope the strong feminine voice of this series resonates with the audience.”

Written by Farjad Nabi and Meenu Gaur, ‘Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam’ is set in the timeless lanes of ‘Androon Sheher’ – a mythical neighborhood and showcases stories of love, lust, power, and redemption woven in a web of betrayal, angst, and revenge. Each story from the anthology depicts the fearlessness of women and their determination to avenge deceit. At the core of the stories is mystery, suspense, intrigue with twist endings.

Don’t forget to tune into Zee5 on December 10th, 2021 for the thrilling new series Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam
