Keeping in view the announcement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for vaccination of youth in the age group 15-18 years on December 15 last year, the NCC Directorate Gujarat, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu in coordination with UNICEF, Sauhard Foundation and Centre of Excellence Gujarat University have launched a campaign to promote 100% vaccination of the eligible age group in Gujarat, says an NCC release.

The campaign named #EkMaiSauKeLiye “NCC Cadets ane UNICEF Gujarat Na Karmveer – Covid Vaccination Drive for youth 15–18 years” was launched virtually by Major General Arvind Kapoor, Additional Director General, NCC Directorate Gujarat, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu on Tuesday. Dr. Shravan Kumar, Health Specialist, UNICEF and Gaurang Raval, Sauhard Foundation, other guests and NCC cadets.
As part of the campaign, UNICEF and Sauhard Foundation will provide online training to NCC cadets to enable them to understand the current Covid situation, create awareness about the Omicron variant, vaccination of the age group 15-18 years and role of the NCC cadets in spreading awareness about vaccination amongst their family members and friends.
Speaking on this occasion, Major General Kapoor said, “Since 2020 the world is battling the Covid-19 pandemic which has seriously affected us all. All the citizens of the country have wholeheartedly responded to the call of the Hon’ble PM and done their bit in combating the same. Our brave and disciplined cadets of NCC, as always have also actively participated in the same be it Exercise Yogdan wherein the cadets were deployed in all districts of Gujarat in assisting the district administration in traffic management, distribution of supplies to the needy, blood donation besides other activities.”
Major General Kapoor stated that these young NCC cadets are not just schools / colleges going students and small children, but a big force to reckon who are highly trained and motivated. They are a force multiplier and will ensure success of this unique initiative under #EkMaiSauKeLiye “NCC Cadets ane UNICEF Gujarat Na Karmveer – Covid Vaccination Drive for youth 15–18 years” by spreading awareness about Covid-19 through personal interaction and various social media platforms and motivating youth of the age group of 15-18 years to get vaccinated at the earliest.
The NCC cadets have also involved themselves in number of social activities for spreading awareness about Covid-19 through the #EkMaiSauKeLiye twitter campaign which commenced on 01 May 2021. Seven phases of the campaign have since been completed till date.
On 07 June 2021, the Gujarat NCC Directorate was awarded the Certificate of Commitment by the World Book of Records, London, validating their dedicated and relentless commitment for the prevention of Corona virus disease. Phases 4 and 5 of the #EkMaiSauKeLiye campaign were launched by the Hon’ble Governorshri and the CM of Gujarat respectively, who have also lauded the selfless service of the NCC cadets of Gujarat.
