The Indian Coast Guard Director-General Virendra Singh Pathania arrived at Porbandar on a three-day maiden visit to North West (NW) Region of ICG on Tuesday, says a release..
He was presented with a 50-men Guard of Honour on arrival. Inspector General AK Harbola, Commander, Coast Guard Region (NW) received and accompanied DG who took a review of operation preparedness.

DG VS Pathania took over as the 24th Chief of Indian Coast Guard on December 31, 2021. He is an alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College Wellington and the National Defence College New Delhi. The Flag Officer is a qualified helicopter pilot and holds a Master’s Degree in Defence & Strategic Studies from the University of Madras. He has also undergone specialization in Search and Rescue and Port Operations with US Coast Guard.
DG along with Neela Pathania, President, Coast Guard Wives Welfare Association, will interact with ICG officers, personnel and their families in far flung bases within Region during the visit and will also call on state dignitaries during his stay in Gandhinagar.
