The Delhi unit of the National Movement for Old Pension Scheme (NMOPS) president Manjeet Singh Patel on Monday said that acting on his complaint the National Comission for Human rights has ordered the Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms and Pension Grievances to submit report on NPS issue within a month.
According to Manjeet Singh Patel, the Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms and Pension Grievances was sitting over its demand over NPS for a long time. Following the complaint of NMOPS Delhi dated December 10, 2021, the NHRC issued a final reminder to the Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms and Pension Grievances to submit its report on NPS issues.
The NMOPS has asked the central government to set up a committee to resolve the NPS row. The NHRC ordered the DARPG on 06 June 2022 to submit its action taken report to it within a month. Otherwise NHRC will proceed according to PHR Act 1993 (article-13) against DARPG.
He said that NMOPS has been running a nationwide movement against NPS. Now, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh states have reverted to old pension scheme by scrapping the NPS. Also it was the biggest issue in the recently held UP state elections. Himachal Pradesh is also facing this vexatious issue. Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Tamilnadu, Maharshtra and Himachal have framed the committees to review NPS after protests against NPS.
