AHMEDABAD, JULY 9
Thanks to the visionary Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives as former chief minister of Gujarat and PM, Sakhi Mandals or the all-women self-help groups(SHGs) are running in almost every village and the sisters themselves are leading the lakhs of Sakhi Mandals. Thus Modiji has ensured that in the journey of progress our mothers and daughters are not left behind. Both the Central and state governments have been working with service spirit for women’s empowerment. This economic empowerment of women has helped them and will continue to boost them to earn extra income for their families. Further, they have a greater say in the decision-making, said Gujarat Minister of State for Home, Sports and Youth Affairs Harsh Sanghavi here on Friday.
Sanghavi was speaking at the Jain Arise Global Organisation (JAGO) Foundation’s ‘Spirit of Women’ conference in Ahmedabad.
The minister launched the JAGO Foundation’s new job portal for its members. The Foundation, working for the uplift of women from the economically poor families in and Ahmedabad, has tied up with over 25 women-run companies for this endeavour.
He also applauded the Foundation for adopting 100 malnourished children and taking care of them by providing hygienic and nutritional food. They were given the food kits by the minister.
The Minister advocated the Foundation members that each one should adopt at least five such children so as to cover more.
Commenting on the presentation of three different SHGs on women empowerment, culture and environment staged on the dais, Sanghavi appreciated that now women are present in every walk of life, including politics. He also interacted with a woman who came dressed as a politician and said she has to leave her mark in the society.
State BJP chief CR Paatil virtually addressed the conference at 10:30 am.
Speaking with navjeevanexpress.com, Ushmita A Shah, Founder of JAGO Foundation, said, “Our Foundation has been working for the welfare, education, health, employment and business promotion of Jain community women for the last seven years. This conference will help the SHGs and business women of our community to widen their network in their respective fields.”
