Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Friday launched the logo of the 36th National Games at Mahatma Mandir here along with the signing of MoU (memorandum of understanding) among Indian Olympic Association, Gujarat Olympic Association and Government of Gujarat.

આ અવસરે મુખ્યમંત્રીશ્રીની પ્રેરક ઉપસ્થિતિમાં ‘સેલિબ્રેટીંગ યુનિટી થ્રુ સ્પોર્ટસ’ ની થીમ સાથે રાજ્યમાં યોજાનાર આ નેશનલ ગેઇમ્સના સફળ આયોજન માટે ગુજરાત સરકાર, ઇન્ડીયન ઓલિમ્પિક એસોસિયેશન તથા ગુજરાત સ્ટેટ ઓલિમ્પિક એસોસિયેશન વચ્ચે ત્રિપક્ષીય MoU સંપન્ન થયા હતા. pic.twitter.com/ZT3M9Tdy46

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s Statue of Unity and the Gir’s Asiatic lion can be seen in the logo of the National Games.

  • The inaugural ceremony will be held at Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera area of Ahmedabad which falls under Home Minister Amit Shah’s Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency.
  • Over 7,000 top sportsperson across the country will showcase their might in 36 disciplines, including indoor and outdoor sports such as athletics, hockey, football, volleyball, lawn tennis, table tennis, judo, wrestling, kabaddi, kho-kho, mallakhambha and yogansana.

CM Patel said that this MoU will work as a foundation stone to carry out the grand planning of the National Games.

“By running a campaign like Fit India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has created a bond between sports and fitness in the country. Sporting culture, sporting community and discipline are developing in India,” he said.

Gujarat Minister of Sports Harsh Sanghavi, IOA Acting President Anil Khanaa, Rajeev Mehta, Secretary general IOA and Gujarat Olympic Association President Devendra Singh Solanki were also present at the event.

The Games will take place from September 27 to October 10 in Gujarat. The inaugural ceremony will be held at Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera area of Ahmedabad which falls under Home Minister Amit Shah’s Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency. The various sporting events will be spread across the state covering six cities– Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot and Bhavnagar. Over 7,000 top sportsperson across the country will showcase their might in 36 disciplines, including indoor and outdoor sports such as athletics, hockey, football, volleyball, lawn tennis, table tennis, judo, wrestling, kabaddi, kho-kho, mallakhambha and yogansana.

The last edition of the National Games took place in Kerala in the year 2015. Due to various reasons, including the pandemic, the games are now being organised after a gap of seven years.
