GOWRI MANICKAVASAGAM

With ‘Raado’, director-writer Krishnadev Yagnik raises the bar for Gujarati cine industry. The corridors of higher education – universities – are the fertile launchpad for wannabe politicians. And in the world’s largest democracy, India, votebank politics, so-called godmen and the law-enforcing agencies rule the roost to make their ends’ meet by hook and crook.

By taking cues from some real-life incidents happened in the country, director-writer Krishnadev Yagnik drives home a message that present-day youth of India are full of integrity with out-of-the-box thinking. They are intolerant towards inept netas, police and the religious fanatics despite born with silverspoons in their mouth. They are socio-conscious too.

According to Swami Vivekanand, “All power is within youth. They can do anything and everything. They should never believe that they are weak and they should believe in themselves and world will be at their feet. It is high time for youth to come forward by shedding their fears and bad habits to shape up India and make it golden sparrow once again.”

‘Raado’ hero Karan (Yash Soni), son of the chief Minister, is the youth icon of new India which Swami Vivekanand dreamt of. He does what he deems correct by taking on the mighty godwoman and her violent followers for unleashing terror to avenge the death of her sect head in a hospital. While the CM remains a mute spectator to the ongoing riot following the direction of his higher-ups from Delhi, his son, an angry youngman, teaches a befitting lesson to all by abducting the godwoman. He and his friends make the godwoman to cough up adequate compensation to the victims and the government for destroying private as well as public properties.

Neel (Devarshi Shah) vrooms on the streets of Ahmedabad with his lady love, Nikita Sharma, to escape from the godwoman’s gang and reach the hospital. His daredevil bike rides keep the fans at their seat’s edge.

Though it is a Gujarati movie, most of the dialogues are in English which will be comprehensible for the urbanites. It would be appreciable if the production team carries sub-titles in Gujarati to attract rural audience too.

The director has brought out the best in from all characters.

Navjeevan Express wishes KD as the director is fondly called to make pan-India films to be released in Hindi and other South Indian languages like Superstar Suriya’s National Award-winning ‘Soorarai Potru’ and Kamal Haasan’s ‘Vikram’ soon.

This political thriller is written and directed by Krishnadev Yagnik.

This multi-starrer film cast includes Hitu Kanodia, Hiten Kumar, Yash Soni, Tarjanee Bhadla, Nikita Sharma, Bharat Chawda, Niilam Paanchal, Devarshi Shah, Prachi Thaker, Denisha Ghumra, Pratik Rathod, Rajan Thakar, Chetan Daiya, and Gaurang Anand.
