Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel conferred Dharti Ratna Awards on 11 selfless workers here on Saturday.
The awards were instituted by Ashirvad Foundation in 2010 with the sole objective of recognizing people who provide succour for the poor and needy.
Addressing at the felicitation ceremony, Bhupendrabhai Patel said, “Ashirwad Foundation felicitates extraordinary selfless workers each year which is a great matter. I am very happy that such diamonds will also be felicitated today.”
CA R S Patel, Founder, Ashirwad Foundation, said, “There is a dire need to honour those who do exemplary social work at grass roots levels, purely with an intention of serving the society. Today we are felicitating 11 workers who have dedicated their lives for social work in our eighth edition of the awards. The main objective is to motivate and encourage them to keep up the great work, while also inspiring others to walk a similar path.”
Dharti Ratna Award comprises Rs 11, 000.00 cash prize and a shawl.
Rajya Sabha MP and former deputy chief minister Narhari Amin was the guest of honour while the main sponsor PS Patel was also present.
The winners of the Eighth Edition of Dharti Ratna Award are Natvarbhai B Patel, Ahmedabad; Virenbhai B Joshi-Ahmedabad, Dr Rajendra N Kabaria-Bhavnagar, Shilpa N Raichura-Vapi, Triveni B Acharya-Mumbai, Shilpaben A Vaishnav-Viramgam, Dr Prahladkumar Bilwani-Ahmedabad, Sursinh J Solanki-Ahmedabad, Rshmikant J Shah-Ahmedabad, Kadarbhai N Mansuri-Visnagar and Kishorbhai B Gajera-Surat.
