AHMEDABAD, AUG 22
Army Officer Lt Col Swaroop Singh Kuntal won the 50-km Durshet Forest Ultramarathon on Sunday. Kuntal completed the toughest Ultramarathon in 4 hours and 39 minutes and was declared a winner.
The Ultramarathon was organised Runbuddies in Durshet Forest near Lonavala. Ultramarathon route was through the forest with an elevation of around 500-m. Continuous rain made the Ultramarathon more challenging and grueling.
Lt Col Kuntal, a paratrooper and an IITian, is presently posted at the Military Institute of Technology, Pune.
Extensive running, cycling, swimming and strength training were part of regular routine for this Army officer.
Earlier he has won number of Ultramarathons, Stadium Runs and Triathlons. He was the fastest Indian in Ironman Malaysia 2019 comprising 3.8-km swimming, 180-km cycling and 42.2-km running in 12 hours 14 minutes.

He is also the winner of Ultraman India comprising 10-km swimming, 420-km cycling and 84.4- km running. In 2021, he ran 191.4-km in 24 hours ìn Stadium Run at Chandigarh. Earlier in 2019, he ran 118.7-km in 12 hours stadium run. Kuntal gas participated in National Road Cycling Championship twice.
