The Gujarat government on Thursday signed an agreement with a special purpose vehicle of the joint venture of two companies to set up four desalination plants along the Saurashtra-Kutch coastline. Once operational, the plants will desalinate 27 crore litres of water daily.
The agreement was inked by Gujarat Water Infrastructure Limited and a joint venture SPV between Shapoorji Pallonji and Co Ltd and Aquatech Systems (Asia) Pvt Ltd in presence of CM Vijay Rupani.
These plants will be set up at four villages of Devbhoomi Dwarka, Bhavnagar, Kutch and Gir-Somnath districts and will be operational within two years, a release said.
Two plants with 7 crore litres capacity each will be set up in Devbhoomi Dwarka district and Bhavnagar district. A 10 crore litre plant will be set up near Gundiyali village of Kutch district while a 3 crore litre plant will be set up at Gir-Somnath district.
