HSBC India announces the launch of 20-th edition of ‘Helping Hands Mela’, a unique annual exhibition by NGOs at HSBC India’s premises across the country.
The Chennai Branch of HSBC inaugurated their Helping Hands Mela on Monday, 17th October 2022. The guests of honor for the same were N Ram of The Hindu Group and Somdev Devvarman, renowned Tennis Player. The theme chosen by the Chennai Branch is “Wellness through fitness”

- Through this initiative the Branch Team whilst encouraging and supporting some 12 NGO’s, is also trying to create awerness about what each of these NGO’s are striving to achieve.
During this mela, HSBC allows various NGO’s to display their products from arts and craft, accessories, hand crafted jewelry, woven fabrics, home linen, stationary, diyas to food items at theirs stalls at the Branch premises to help encourage their sales and promote the causes they support. Through this initiative the Branch Team whilst encouraging and supporting some 12 NGO’s, is also trying to create awerness about what each of these NGO’s are striving to achieve.
The Branch is also trying to promote wellness through the route of Sports and Fitness. Hence the Branch décor is also in line with this theme of “Wellness through Fitness”.
The proceeds go towards supporting the causes and the communities the NGOs serve.
Commenting on this CSR initiative, Their Senior Vice President and Branch Head Stephen Dique, explained that the staff were all extremely pationate about supporting these various NGO’s and over the years have developed a close bond with them and the causes that they support.
The mela is on till 21st October from 10 am to 4 pm and the HSBC Branch on No.5 & 7, Cathedral Road, Chennai – 600086.
This is the 20th year of the Mela and around 50 NGOs will be participating in 20 HSBC branches across 11 cities. Branches in Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi and Noida will host the Mela.
Aloka Majumdar, Head of Corporate Sustainability, HSBC India said, “The Helping Hands Mela is an important annual event which gives NGOs a platform to display their products to HSBC customers and the public. The funds raised are utilised for the development and social welfare of the community. Hosted in our branches across India, we extend a welcome to our customers and the public to share the Diwali spirit by helping the less-privileged sections of society by purchasing the products displayed by the NGOs.”
