To micromanage Gujarat polls ,PM Modi is all set to interact with the 82 lakh page committee members on Tuesday at the Diwali ‘Sneh Milan’ programme in Gujarat to enthuse them before the assembly elections.

Gujarat BJP president CR Patil said in Gandhinagar on Sunday evening that while page committee members of the Gandhinagar assembly seat will be addressed in person by the PM, the rest of the members will join virtually.

The programme has been organized on Tuesday, at the Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar.
The ruling BJP has been strengthening its grassroots, and in the process, it has also focused on the page committees and page committee chiefs.

An extension of BJP state chief Paatil’s ‘panna pramukh’ model that secured him Lok Sabha wins, new model entails 5-person ‘page committees’ which will be in charge of 1 electoral page, which has 30 voters. Out of these five persons, one is selected as page president. Their role is to spread awareness about the party’s schemes and ensure that each voter on the respective electoral roll page has voted. They will first be tasked with convincing their own family members to vote for the BJP.

A party spokesperson said that a page member need not necessarily be a primary member of the party.
Paatil claimed that the party has 82 lakh page committee members in the state. He said that out of these, 40 lakh will join virtually from various places.
BJP leaders will go to these places and guide them before PM delivers his speech. Paatil claimed that it is unprecedented for a leader of this level to address this kind of audience.
Winning the upcoming state assembly polls with a respectable mandate would, however, be the biggest challenge to Paatil’s organisational skills.
For the assembly elections, the state unit under his leadership is similarly employing an “82 lakh-strong army of BJP identity card–holders” who have been directed to micro-manage the voters and ensure “2.4 crore ballots” in favour of the party.
“The party is hopeful that this micromanagement of elections would break all previous records of victory. That is why we have set a target of winning more than 149 seats (in the 182-member Gujarat assembly). It will be a test of the effectiveness of the page committee model,” a senior party leader said.
