Gas Network to Power Homes and Industry

A major highlight of the announcement was the foundation stone for Bharat Petroleum’s City Gas Distribution network, a ₹3,700-crore project designed to supply Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to nearly nine lakh households and commercial establishments in Nilgiris and Erode.

Highlighting the environmental benefits, Modi said: “The positive environmental impact of this project over just eight years will be similar to the planting of four crore trees.”

Boost for ‘Make in India’ Manufacturing

The Prime Minister also dedicated **Indian Oil Corporation’s Lube Blending Plant in Chennai to the nation, describing it as one of the largest facilities of its kind globally.

“Today Indian Oil Corporation’s Lube Blending Plant in Chennai is being dedicated to the nation ,this is one of the world’s largest facilities of its kind.”

He noted that the facility would enhance domestic manufacturing while reducing dependence on imports.

“The increase in local production of lubricants also reduces imports and saves money for the nation.”

Rural Roads to Transform Village Economies

Emphasising rural development, Modi inaugurated 370 kilometres of roads built under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

These roads are expected to improve connectivity between villages and urban centres, enabling better access to healthcare, education and markets.

“We are inaugurating rural roads today that span three hundred and seventy kilometres, Overall each road lifts the rural economy and increases Ease of Living.”

Heritage Protection Through Smart Highways

The Prime Minister also announced a new highway bypass near Gangaikonda Cholapuram Temple, built by Emperor Rajendra Chola I.

The bypass aims to divert heavy traffic away from the UNESCO-recognised heritage site to protect the monument and enhance visitor safety.

“This means better safety for everyone.”

Rail Connectivity and Tourism Boost

As part of efforts to modernise transport infrastructure, Modi flagged off new train services connecting key cities such as Nagercoil, Coimbatore, Rameswaram, Tirunelveli, Mayiladuthurai and Karaikkudi, which are expected to stimulate tourism and regional trade.

“Several new train services are being flagged off ,these will increase tourism, boost the local economy and create many jobs for the youth.”

Reaffirming his vision for the state’s development, the Prime Minister said:

“Our goal is to create a developed Tamil Nadu for a Developed India.”

He added: “We are working day and night for the state’s progress and we will continue to do so.”
