Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel on Thursday urged the public not to resort to self-medication for conjunctivitis and other eye-related diseases and consult the eye specialists.
The minister said this at the inauguration of the first High-Tech Eye Care Mobile Bus of Tej Eye Center, one of the India’s fastest growing chains of eye hospitals in Gandhinagar.
Health Minister Rushikesh Patel said, “I urge the public not to resort to self-medication for conjunctivitis and other eye-related diseases and consult the eye specialists. This will help in sure cure for vision related problems. Gujarat has witnessed 2.17 lakh cases of conjunctivitis since June and enough medicine is available to treat elementary or advanced infection of conjunctivitis in all government and private hospitals. Further, treatment for major eye diseases are covered under the Central and state governments’ health schemes like Bharat Ayushman Yojana.”
Dr Tejal Dalal, founder of Tej Eye Center, said, “We are launching this first ophthalmic clinic on wheels to bring accessible and affordable eye care services to every citizen, as part of our corporate social responsibility. We will add four more buses to widen our services this year. With a vision to combat the burden of eye diseases prevalent in society and emphasizing the importance of early detection, the High-Tech Eye Mobile Bus equipped with the latest diagnostic and screening technologies, manned by a team of skilled and experienced eye care specialists is being rolled out today. The mobile unit is designed to travel to every nook and corner of Gujarat, making it possible for citizens across the state to receive comprehensive eye examinations and timely treatment. Tej Eye Center’s Eye Mobile Bus aims to identify eye conditions early, provide appropriate interventions, and bridge accessibility gaps in underserved communities.”
Throwing light on this initiative, Dr Tejal Dalal said, “In alignment with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s healthy India Mission, our services are covered under Bharat Ayushman Yojna, and Maa card. According to statistics, a staggering 80% of blindness cases can be prevented if eye conditions are diagnosed at an early stage. Tej Eye Center’s commitment to public health and welfare inspired the initiation of this mobile eye care service.
