GANDHINAGAR, MAR 28

The Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), an institute of national importance under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, on Friday announced it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Visa, a global leader in digital payments, to advance cybersecurity education and training in India. This landmark industry-academia partnership will equip students, professionals, cybersecurity leaders, and law enforcement agencies (LEAs) with critical skills to combat digital fraud and emerging cyber threats.

The MoU was formally signed at RRU’s Gandhinagar campus in the presence of Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel, Vice-Chancellor, RRU, and Sandeep Ghosh, Group Country Manager for Visa India and South Asia. The collaboration leverages Visa’s global expertise in digital payments security and RRU’s academic and research excellence in security studies to create a structured, impactful training initiative that will enhance India’s digital resilience.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel stated, “This collaboration marks a significant step in strengthening India’s cybersecurity ecosystem. Rashtriya Raksha University is committed to pioneering security education, and this partnership with Visa will empower individuals and institutions with the necessary knowledge to mitigate cyber risks, ensuring a secure digital economy for the nation.”

Sandeep Ghosh, Group Country Manager, Visa India and South Asia, added, “Visa is honored to partner with the Rashtriya Raksha University to champion cybersecurity in India. As India and Indians become more digital-first, securing the ecosystem requires collective action to build awareness and equip professionals with the right skills, tools and knowhow. Our partnership with RRU reflects Visa’s commitment to building trust in the digital ecosystem through education, robust technology and innovation. By combining forces, we believe RRU and Visa can help our country’s citizens, professionals and officials to stay ahead of cybersecurity threats.”

As part of this initiative, Visa and RRU will develop specialized programs, expert-led training sessions, and co-created knowledge resources to ensure a robust cybersecurity framework. The collaboration aligns with Visa’s broader efforts to promote safe digital payment ecosystems, including financial literacy programs, consumer awareness campaigns, and cybersecurity training for digital professionals.

This partnership underscores RRU’s dedication to national security and its commitment to fostering academic excellence in security studies, law enforcement, and cybersecurity.
